Our Journey & Vision: Connecting Children to Their Roots

Our Story: How IndieKidz Began

IndieKidz was born from a simple question:
“How can we help Indian expat children stay connected to their roots — while supporting their early development?”

The inspiration came from Chyav-Myav, a beloved Marathi children’s magazine launched in 2021 in Kolhapur, India, by Rohan Turambekar and team. Created as an alternative to screen addiction during the pandemic, it quickly reached over 10,000 families across Maharashtra, Goa, and Tamil Nadu — blending Indian culture, science, and values with fun, curiosity-driven learning.

Living in Germany with my own son, I felt the same need — but found no child-friendly content in English that reflected our Indian heritage. Every trip to India, I’d bring back copies of Chyav-Myav for him. That’s when the idea struck:
Why not bring a modern, screen-free, English-language version to expat families worldwide?

And so, IndieKidz was launched — with limited-edition English books crafted for kids aged 1–7. Our goal is to support:

  • Literacy and early brain development

  • Cultural confidence and identity

  • Parent-child bonding through meaningful, guided content

  • Screen-free enrichment rooted in Indian traditions

We’re just getting started — and your feedback shapes what comes next:
Indian language books, cultural activity kits, mythological storybooks, and more.

Together, let’s help our children grow up smart, curious, and proudly connected — wherever they live.

"Our mission isn't just to create beautiful magazines—it's to nurture a generation of children who feel deeply connected to their heritage while confidently embracing their global identity."
